'Shrek' to Become First Animated Cinematic Experience in Shared Reality, Kicking Off Cosm and Universal Film’s Multi-Film Partnership

Cosm, Universal Film, and DreamWorks Animation come together to transport guests into Shrek’s “Land of Fairytales” through what will be the world’s first animated cinematic experience in Shared Reality. Universal Film becomes Cosm's second major studio partner, expanding Cosm’s entertainment slate with more premium and classic film titles.

Cosm, a leading immersive technology, media, and entertainment company, today announced a multi-year, multi-film partnership with Universal Film to deliver even more cinematic experiences in Shared Reality, starting with the 2001 Academy Award®-winning animated film Shrek, in celebration of its 25th anniversary.

Developed in collaboration with Universal Film, DreamWorks Animation, and visual effects studio Reel FX, Shrek in Shared Reality invites audiences to step inside the world of the original film, exploring legendary locations including Shrek's Swamp, Duloc's Arena, and Dragon's Keep while experiencing the adventure alongside Shrek, Donkey, Princess Fiona, and other beloved characters. The original film will remain the hero in its 16:9 format, while the surrounding environments across Cosm’s 12K+ LED Dome and throughout its venues evolve dynamically to complement the film’s signature humor and genre-defining narrative.

Universal Film becomes Cosm’s second major film studio partner, following the highly successful run of Cosm’s first four cinematic experiences in Shared Reality, an experience which it first introduced to the world last summer. With Shrek in Shared Reality, Cosm applies its immersive full dome filmmaking capabilities to animation for the very first time, leveraging its pioneered technology to dissolve the boundaries between audience and film to place fans directly inside the world of Shrek.

Fans can extend the adventure beyond the screen with an ogre-worthy themed menu, featuring imaginative bites and swamp-inspired cocktails and mocktails crafted for fans of all ages.
