Comcast NBCUniversal, NBCUniversal Local Award $2.5M to 80 Nonprofits in NBC- and Telemundo-Owned Stations' Markets

Unrestricted funds to support youth education and empowerment, next generation storytellers and community engagement in 11 U.S. markets

Comcast NBCUniversal and NBCUniversal Local announced that a total of $2.5 million has been awarded to 80 nonprofit organizations servicing one of the 11 NBC- and Telemundo-owned stations’ markets across the U.S. through the 2026 NBCUniversal Local Impact Grants. Founded in 2018, NBCUniversal’s grant program has now provided $24.3 million to 695 nonprofit organizations.

For the ninth year, the competitive grant challenge is awarding unrestricted funding to eligible nonprofits making a difference in local communities. Applications were accepted in three categories: youth education and empowerment, next generation storytellers, and community engagement. The 2026 application window for 501(c)(3) nonprofits was March 24 through April 24.

Nonprofits receiving funds serve communities in the following NBC- and Telemundo-owned stations’ markets: New York (WNBC, WNJU), Los Angeles (KNBC, KVEA), Chicago (WMAQ, WSNS), Philadelphia (WCAU, WWSI), Dallas (KXAS, KXTX), Boston (WBTS, WNEU), Washington, D.C. (WRC-TV, WZDC), San Francisco (KNTV, KSTS), Miami (WTVJ, WSCV), San Diego (KNSD, KUAN) and Hartford, Conn. (WVIT, WRDM).

New York – Open Style Lab

Los Angeles – Southern California College Attainment Network

SoCal CAN has worked to expand college access, affordability, and completion for students across Southern California.

Chicago – 826CHI

826CHI is a non-profit creative writing, tutoring, and publishing center dedicated to amplifying the voices of Chicago youth.

Philadelphia – Fostering Hope

Fostering Hope is a volunteer-driven, donation-based, 501(c)3 organization that serves the foster care community. Their mission is to serve youth experiencing foster care and those who open their hearts and homes to care for them by providing free, tangible resources to help them feel safe, valued, and supported.

Dallas-Fort Worth – Taylor's Gift

Taylor's Gift works to provide organ & tissue donor families with free grief support after the loss of their loved one.

Boston – Birthday Wishes

Birthday Wishes works with homeless families through its partnership with a network of 200 shelters across seven states: Massachusetts, Rhode Island, New Hampshire, Maine, Connecticut, New York, and California. Their shelter network works directly with families, domestic violence survivors, substance abuse recovery, and teen mothers.

Washington D.C. – Northern Virginia Resource Center for Deaf & Hard of Hearing Persons

NVRC empowers deaf and hard of hearing individuals and their families through education, advocacy, and community involvement.

San Francisco – Elevate Tutoring

Elevate Tutoring advances access and opportunity by bridging economic and achievement gaps on the path to-and-through college. They provide training, work experience, career development, and scholarships to first-generation college students who, in turn, provide high-quality STEM tutoring, mentorship, and growth mindset coaching to their younger K-12 peers.

Miami – Joshua's Heart Foundation

Joshua’s Heart is dedicated to the fight against global hunger and poverty. JHF is a 501(c) (3), not-for-profit, youth-run organization, which empowers needy people to improve their quality of life by providing necessities like groceries and personal items. JHF also effectively engages and educates youth on committing to fight hunger and poverty on a global basis.

San Diego – Positive Movement Foundation

Positive Movement Foundation is a 501(c)(3) non-profit dedicated to providing at-risk children and youth in San Diego County with the resources, mentorship, and emotional support needed to succeed. By creating strategic partnerships with schools, they provide essential tools and life skills to empower students as they grow.

Hartford, Conn. – Manufacturing and Technical Community Hub (MATCH)

MATCH creates pathways to self-sustainable life and career paths in manufacturing for individuals with barriers to gainful employment in greater New Haven. MATCH supports trainees in navigating barriers, developing professional and technical skills, and instilling confidence through transformational relationships, wraparound services, and training, resulting in successful entry into the manufacturing workforce.

The participating NBCU Local stations are NBC 4 and Telemundo 47 (New York); NBC4 and Telemundo 52 (Los Angeles); NBC 5 Chicago and Telemundo Chicago; NBC10 and Telemundo62 (Philadelphia); NBC 5 and Telemundo 39 (Dallas-Fort Worth); NBC4 and Telemundo 44 (Washington D.C.); NBC 10 Boston and Telemundo Boston; NBC Bay Area and Telemundo 48 Area de la Bahia; NBC 6 South Florida and Telemundo 51 Miami; NBC 7 and Telemundo 20 (San Diego); and NBC Connecticut and Telemundo Connecticut.
