NBCUniversal’s acclaimed public service announcement (PSA) campaign, The More You Know, launched its first-ever animated videos today, narrated by Saturday Night Live’s Ego Nwodim. The new PSAs spotlight mental health and use animated storytelling to connect with Generations Z and Alpha on this resonant topic. The two videos titled “Group Chat” and “Three Sisters” debuted on The More You Know’s social platforms and will air across the platforms of Comcast and NBCUniversal in donated media inventory.

"Group Chat" explores how to support a friend who seems withdrawn and has difficulty asking for help. Small, thoughtful actions can help our loved ones feel seen, supported, and less alone.  The story begins and ends with the group chat: it is where the friend's absence is first noted and where, when a request for support is made, support can be offered by many hands.

"Three Sisters" follows the journey of three siblings as they learn to talk about their mental health. The youngest leads the charge, reaching out to them and sharing her struggles. In doing so, she discovers her sisters also have their own private pain. Through honest conversation and empathy, they come together to witness each other and the world around them.

The More You Know is venturing into new creative territory with its debut animated videos, reintroducing this iconic brand to a new generation,” said Hilary Smith, Executive Vice President of Corporate Social Responsibility at NBCUniversal. “The topic of mental health is particularly resonant with younger demographics who can feel isolated living their lives on screens. We hope these spots encourage folks to seek help when needed and to proactively check in on others who may require support.”

The videos were created, developed and produced by acclaimed artist and filmmaker, Niv Sekar, and NY-based animation studio, Mighty Oak. Sekar is a 2023/24 Center for Fiction/ Susan Kamil Fellow who has worked on projects with Refinery29, Ted-ed, Reddit, and more. Both came to this groundbreaking The More You Know project through NBCU LAUNCH, the umbrella brand that houses the comprehensive inclusion efforts across NBCU’s entertainment television portfolio.

“We believe animation can speak volumes especially to younger generations navigating a complicated world,” said Emily Collins, Managing Partner of Mighty Oak. “Partnering with NBCUniversal on The More You Know has been a dream opportunity to bring meaningful, artist-led storytelling to the forefront of a vital national conversation.”

The More You Know also partnered with the Universal Composers Initiative (UCI) for original music scores to create a signature sound for each PSA. “Group Chat” is orchestrated by Murat Selçuk, a composer, music producer, and classical clarinetist; and "Three Sisters” by Sara Barone, an Emmy-nominated composer for film, television, and video games. A joint venture between the Universal Film Music division and Universal Talent Development & Inclusion (UTD&I), UCI was established in 2018 and seeks to find artists from both traditional and non-conventional backgrounds who possess unique perspectives they can translate into distinctive musical expressions.
