Everything You Need to Know Before Seeing 'Wicked: For Good'

From release date to returning cast with Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo, here’s everything fans need to know about 'Wicked: For Good'.

Wicked: For Good | Official Trailer

After more than two decades in development, the iconic Broadway musical Wicked finally took flight in 2024 on the big screen. Directed by Jon M. Chu and released by Universal Pictures, the first film became a global hit, and now the magic continues with Wicked: For Good.

Why Wicked was split into two movies

With the original stage musical running nearly three hours, condensing it into one film proved impossible. Rather than compromise the story or beloved songs, Chu chose to honor the show’s two-act structure by creating two full-length movies — Wicked and Wicked: For Good.

What is Wicked: For Good about

The first movie ends with Elphaba (Cynthia Erivo) defying gravity as she and Glinda (Ariana Grande) uncover the truth about the Wizard (Jeff Goldblum).

The sequel continues the story from Elphaba’s perspective as Oz turns against her, even as Glinda rises as a symbol of hope.

When does Wicked: For Good premiere

The spellbinding conclusion, Wicked: For Good, soars into theaters November 21, 2025, and has already shattered records as Fandango's best first-day ticket pre-seller of 2025 and in the top-10 of all best first-day ticket pre-sellers in the company’s history.
