'Wicked: For Good' Opened No.1 At The Global Box Office

Wicked: For Good opened No.1 at the global box office with $223 million this past weekend, becoming the biggest global opening for a Broadway musical adaptation of all time, ahead of Wicked.

At the domestic box office, the film earned $147 million, making it the second highest-grossing opening weekend of 2025 and Universal’s third highest opening weekend ever behind Jurassic World and Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom. Internationally, the film opened across 78 markets, earning $76 million, including a record-breaking debut in the U.K. & Ireland as the biggest opening weekend of any film in 2025.

Plus, ahead of the Wicked: For Good release, the NBC special Wicked: One Wonderful Night attracted 3.6 million viewers across all platforms—an increase of 64% compared to last year’s Defying Gravity: The Curtain Rises on Wicked. Additionally, the 18–49 demo surged by 148%.
