New York, New York! In addition to its primetime coverage from Madison Square Garden before the 76ers-Knicks showdown, NBC Sports’ dedicated NBA studio program NBA Showtime will provide live coverage from Rockefeller Plaza in the heart of New York City for the first-ever NBA Tip-Off tripleheader on Oct. 20 on NBC and Peacock. One of the signature landmarks of Manhattan, the show will be held from the TODAY Show Plaza and TODAY Show studio throughout the day and feature Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame analysts Carmelo Anthony, Vince Carter, and Tracy McGrady alongside host Maria Taylor.

Live coverage from the TODAY Show Plaza will begin at 3 p.m. ET ahead of Cade Cunningham and the Detroit Pistons hosting Jayson Tatum and the Boston Celtics and continue through halftime. Directly following Boston-Detroit, the NBA Showtime team will travel one mile south to Madison Square Garden for an extended pre-game show, where they will provide on-site coverage of the Knicks raising the franchise’s first championship banner since 1973 before 2026 NBA Finals MVP Jalen Brunson and the New York Knicks face four-time NBA MVP LeBron James and the new-look Philadelphia 76ers at 6:30 p.m. ET on NBC and Peacock.

After the conclusion of Philadelphia-New York, Taylor, Anthony, Carter, and McGrady will make the uptown trip back to 30 Rock, where they will once again provide live studio coverage from the TODAY Show’s Studio 1A for 2026 NBA Defensive Player of the Year Victor Wembanyama and the San Antonio Spurs hosting two-time reigning NBA MVP Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and the Oklahoma City Thunder in a rematch of the Western Conference Finals at 9:30 p.m. ET on NBC and Peacock.

“We’re excited to help tip off one of the most anticipated season openers in years, and what better way to do that than to have Maria and our Hall of Fame trio of Carmelo, Vince, and Tracy at two of New York City’s most iconic landmarks in Rockefeller Plaza and Madison Square Garden,” said Adam Littlefield, Coordinating Producer, NBA Showtime. “We have no doubt that the energy in Manhattan will be incredible and we can’t wait to be right in the middle of it all.”

This will be the first time that a network has ever broadcast three NBA Tip-Off games.
