‘Chicago Med,’ ‘Chicago Fire,’ and ‘Chicago P.D.’ are back with new seasons premiering next Wednesday, Oct. 7th starting at 8 p.m.

October 01, 2026

One Chicago Wednesday Returns | NBC

For more than a decade, the One Chicago franchise has built a passionate fanbase around its three interconnected series, bringing audiences back to Chicago each week.

All three seasons premiere on NBC October 7, with season 12 of Chicago Med at 8 p.m. ET, Chicago Fire season 15 at 9 p.m. ET, and Chicago P.D. season 14 at 10 p.m. ET. New episodes air Wednesday nights starting at 8 p.m. on NBC and stream the following day on Peacock.

The One Chicago shows, whose 3-hour block helped make NBC the No. 1 most-watched entertainment network on Wednesday nights, also helped propel NBC as a whole to win the 2025-26 season in total viewers, reclaiming the No. 1 spot.

Building enduring franchises with Chicago Med, Chicago Fire and Chicago P.D.

Since the premiere of Chicago Fire in 2012, Dick Wolf’s One Chicago franchise has grown to become, much like Wolf’s Law & Order, one of the longest-running and most successful scripted franchises in television history.

Across Chicago Med, Chicago Fire, and Chicago P.D., interconnected characters and storylines have created an expansive storytelling universe that gives audiences more ways to engage with the franchise.

The intersecting characters and storylines become particularly powerful during crossover events like last season’s three-part “Reckoning” event, which brought the One Chicago franchise together for a night of appointment television which drew a season-high 6.1 million viewers across the three-hour block.

Creating long-term economic impact in Chicago

The impact of One Chicago extends well beyond the screen. In September, the cast and crew of Chicago Fire celebrated production of the series’ 300th episode in Chicago, a milestone that reflects both the longevity of the series and NBCUniversal’s longstanding production presence in the city.

Across its run, One Chicago has supported approximately 1,500 jobs per season and generated nearly $2 billion in economic impact across Chicago and Illinois, demonstrating how long-running television production can create sustained investment and opportunity in the communities where stories are made.
