NBCUniversal Secures Top Summer Ratings Spots in Both Streaming and Broadcast with 'Love Island USA' and 'America's Got Talent'

NBCUniversal is dominating summer viewership across broadcast and streaming, driven by the strong ratings and engagement of its unscripted hits Love Island USA and America’s Got Talent

“Love Island USA” scores #1 streaming title in the United States for the week of the finale, generating 1.9 billion minutes viewed. Additionally, season 7 dominated the streaming charts ranking as the #1 streaming reality title for eight consecutive weeks.1

“America’s Got Talent” is the #1 most-watched linear entertainment series of the summer to-date in total viewers and is on track to score its 20th consecutive year as the #1 broadcast summer alternative series among total viewers.2

“Love Island USA” and “America’s Got Talent” rank as the top 2 reality titles across all of television this summer to-date.3

While these are two very different shows, they have accomplished their success in both realms by targeting different audiences. 

Over 50% of the season 7 “Love Island USA” audience is aged 30 and under, while only 6% of the “America’s Got Talent” audience falls within that age group, demonstrating the extensive reach that these shows have across demographics.4

Additionally, only 2% of viewers have sampled both the current seasons of “America’s Got Talent” and “Love Island USA” - further affirming that NBCUniversal’s wide reaching portfolio, and ability to connect with most of the television viewing audience, is unrivaled.5

Both of these titles see relatively high, but contrasting types of co-viewing patterns: 

“Love Island USA” sees 38% of viewership is co-viewing with someone else, with higher co-viewing among young adults and adults in non-married households compared to “America’s Got Talent”6

“America’s Got Talent” sees 48% of viewership is co-viewing with someone else, with higher co-viewing among adults with kids and adults in married households compared to “Love Island USA”6
 

About “Love Island USA”  

Season 7 introduced a brand new roster of singles, new additions to the vibrant Fiji villa, and the return of the infamous Casa Amor. Temptations will rise and drama will ensue as Islanders face brand new couples' challenges, jaw-dropping twists and turns, and even a few surprise guests. Once again, viewers will be able to vote for their favorite couples via the Love Island USA app to determine which Islanders will recouple, who will remain in the villa, and who goes home heartbroken. 

About ‘America's Got Talent’  

NBC premiered the landmark 20th season of the hit competition series “America’s Got Talent” on Tuesday, May 27 (8-10 P.M. ET/PT) with a star-studded judges panel including executive producer Simon Cowell, iconic singer, songwriter Mel B, fan-favorite comedian Howie Mandel and acclaimed actress and international superstar Sofia Vergara.  The dynamic Terry Crews serves as host. The live shows will kick off at the Pasadena Civic Auditorium beginning Tuesday, Aug. 19 (8-10 p.m. ET/PT) on NBC. Results shows will air Wednesday nights (8-9 p.m. ET/PT).
