NBCUniversal Local’s Telemundo Responde and NBC Responds consumer investigative units, in coordination with the Consumer Investigative Center (CIC), have now recovered more than $100 million to community members with consumer-related issues since the program’s 2014 inception.
NBC-owned stations have recovered more than $59 million and Telemundo-owned stations have recovered nearly $41 million over the last 12 years. The CIC and Responds / Responde units reached the $90 million recovered milestone in April 2025 and have since returned an average of nearly $1 million a month to consumers.
NBCU Local’s consumer initiative began in 2014 with the establishment of the CIC and Telemundo 52 Responde in Los Angeles, and now operates in 33 Telemundo- and NBC-owned stations across 23 U.S. markets and Puerto Rico, most recently adding units serving Sacramento and Fresno, Calif. in 2025.
Over the last 12 years, the CIC has received more than 800,000 requests for help from community members across the nation. The most common complaint categories are related to travel, home improvements, utilities, phone and internet services, and vehicle purchases and repairs.
