NBC Sports's Connecticut HQ is the Production Powerhouse Behind Legendary February
February 18, 2026
With a year‑round slate of premier sports programming, including the NFL, NBA, Olympics, Premier League, MLB, and more, NBCUniversal's NBC Sports relies on its headquarters in Stamford, Connecticut to power live sports across its platforms. Since establishing its presence in the city, NBC Sports has played a significant role in Stamford's economic growth, creating jobs, attracting top industry talent, and driving sustained investment in the local community – helping position Connecticut as a national leader in sports production.
The Stamford facility serves as the production hub for Legendary February, a 17-day stretch featuring the 2026 Milan Cortina Olympics, Super Bowl LX, and the NBA All-Star, marking an unprecedented moment as NBCUniversal delivers three of the world's biggest sporting events at the same time. Legendary February is already off to a successful start: to date, the Milan Cortina Winter Olympics are the most-watched Games since 2014, averaging nearly 25M viewers; Super Bowl LX was the second most-watched show in U.S. history and the most-watched show in the history of NBCUniversal, averaging nearly 125 million viewers; and NBC Sports delivered the largest NBA All-Star audience since 2011, averaging 8.8 million viewers across NBC, Peacock, and Telemundo.
From Stamford, NBC Sports is supporting and coordinating thousands of hours of live and studio programming during Legendary February, including 3,200 hours of Winter Olympics coverage across NBC and Peacock – the most expansive Winter Olympics coverage ever; 90+ hours of Super Bowl LX coverage across platforms; and comprehensive NBA All‑Star coverage across NBC, Peacock, and Telemundo. As the operational epicenter managing broadcast operations, studio shows, remote integrations, and digital execution, the Stamford facility enables NBCUniversal to bring these events and more to U.S. audiences.

More Than 15 Years of Growth in Stamford
NBCUniversal's presence in Stamford began in 2009 with the opening of Stamford Studios, a 46,000 square foot production facility located in the center of downtown Stamford, which has become a creative hub for some of television's most beloved daytime talk shows.
Building on that foundation, NBCUniversal expanded its Stamford footprint in 2013 with the opening of a 115,000‑square‑foot facility that has since become the operational center of NBC Sports. Today, the facility supports major NBC Sports properties, housing broadcast operations, digital content teams, and advanced control rooms that manage thousands of hours of live sports and studio programming each year.
That growth continues today as NBCUniversal expands its sports operations in Connecticut. Since establishing its Stamford headquarters, the company has invested more than $1.6 billion statewide, including nearly $400 million in facility upgrades in production engineering and new technologies. In addition to direct investment, NBCUniversal's Stamford operations generate significant indirect economic activity, engaging hundreds of Connecticut-based vendors each year across industries such as transportation, catering, and construction. Most recently, that continued investment and growth was reinforced by the return of the NBA to NBC this fall, with NBA production relocating to Connecticut and additional employees hired to support expanded coverage.

Powering Workforce Growth for Connecticut Talent
NBCUniversal's long‑standing presence in Stamford continues to create meaningful career opportunities in sports production for the local community. Since the NBC Sports facility opened in 2013, the workforce has nearly doubled, growing from approximately 1,000 employees to nearly 2,000 today.
To further strengthen a multiskilled local workforce, NBC Sports launched the Sports Production & Operations Trainee (SPOT) program in December 2023. The program is designed to recruit entry‑level talent into production and operations teams and provide hands‑on training that prepares participants for full‑time roles. Since its launch, the SPOT Program has become a key talent pipeline, helping develop the next generation of sports production professionals in Connecticut.
To source trainees, the SPOT Program partners with local colleges and universities across the state, including Southern Connecticut State University, UConn Stamford, Quinnipiac University, University of Hartford, and Norwalk Community College. Multiple SPOT Program trainees have transitioned from freelance assignments to full-time positions at NBC Sports, and eight trainees are currently active in the program.

Giving Back to the Stamford Community
NBC Sports is committed to supporting its local communities. During regular operations, NBC Sports donates about 150 pounds of food per week to Food Rescue U.S., which then distributes the donations to four Stamford-based agencies: New Covenant House, Pacific House, Boys and Girls Club of Stamford, and Stamford Church of God of Prophecy.
NBC Sports has significantly increased its contributions during Legendary February, expecting to donate more than 4,800 meals by the end of the Olympics.

NBCUniversal's Continued Investment in Stamford
NBCUniversal's continued presence in Stamford reinforces Connecticut's role as a leader in media innovation and sports production – and with Comcast NBCUniversal securing Olympics rights through 2036 and the company's full slate of premier sports programming, the company will continue to rely on its Stamford operations to deliver the best moments in sports to fans across the country. Through its operations, the company creates jobs, supports local businesses, and strengthens the state's production ecosystem, while contributing to its long-term growth and economic vitality.
