Both Focus Features and Universal Television took home wins at this year’s Golden Globes Awards.

Hamnet wins Best Motion Picture Drama and Best Actress in a Motion Picture Drama (Jessie Buckley)

Hamnet claimed Best Motion Picture Drama and Best Actress in a Motion Picture Drama for Jessie Buckley, who also just won the Critics’ Choice Award win for Best Actress.

Building on its acclaimed debut, Hamnet also earned nominations from the Producers Guild of America for Outstanding Producer of Theatrical Motion Pictures and the Directors Guild of America, with Chloé Zhao recognized for Outstanding Directorial Achievement in a Feature Film. The film’s awards-season run also includes the prestigious Vanguard Award at the Palm Springs International Film Awards, honoring the collective work of the cast and director.

Internationally, Hamnet 'came home' in a big way, launching across 950 screens in 711 locations in the UK and Ireland. The opening delivered an impressive $4.3 million, marking the biggest opening among this year’s awards front-runners. It stands as the highest post-pandemic January awards-corridor opening for a drama, the fifth-biggest January drama opening of the past decade, and the second-largest drama opening since the start of 2025. Audience response has been equally strong, with a 93 percent audience score.

Domestically, Hamnet continues to show remarkable staying power, earning more than $12 million in limited release, fueled by critical acclaim and word of mouth ahead of its wide release later this month.

Hacks' Jean Smart won her third Golden Globe for Best Actress in a Television Series – Musical or Comedy
