Focus Features' Hamnet wins two BAFTA awards

Focus Features' highly-awarded film Hamnet took him two BAFTA awards. From Academy Award® winning writer/director Chloé Zhao, Hamnet tells the powerful story of love and loss that inspired the creation of Shakespeare’s timeless masterpiece, Hamlet.

Chloé Zhao, Liza Marshall, Pippa Harris, Nicolas Gonda, Steven Spielberg, Sam Mendes, and Maggie O’Farrell and accepted the award for Outstanding British Film. 

Jessie Buckley, who has already received the British Academy Film Award, Critics Choice Award, and Golden Globe, added the BAFTA Lead Actress award to her Hamnet wins. 

Hamnet is nominated for 8 Academy Awards, including Best Picture and Lead Actress. It is now playing in theaters and is available to buy or rent at home.

Donna Langley receives the BAFTA Fellowship prize

Donna Langley, Chairman of NBCUniversal Entertainment, was honored with the prestigious Fellowship prize at the BAFTA Film Awards in London — the Academy’s highest accolade.

As the first British woman to lead a major Hollywood studio, Langley was presented with the award by His Royal Highness Prince William, who recognized her tireless advocacy for British storytelling and her leadership in championing films that shape culture and resonate with audiences worldwide.

In her speech, she spoke about the power of movies.

Langley was also celebrated in a video tribute featuring long-time collaborators and Hollywood legends Christopher Nolan and Steven Spielberg, Mamma Mia! producer Judy Craymer, Working Title Films chairs and producers Tim Bevan and Eric Fellner, BAFTA chair Sara Putt and more.

The recognition of Hamnet and Langley's career highlights NBCUniversal's continued impact on global filmmaking, from championing bold storytelling on screen to supporting the creators behind it.
