FIFA World Cup, 100-Day Countdown Begins

Today marks the start of the 100-day countdown to the single most important sporting event in the Spanish-language media world – the FIFA World Cup Russia 2018™.
An effort of this scale doesn’t come together in a matter of weeks or months. We have been looking forward to Russia 2018 since 2011 when Telemundo, with the support of NBCUniversal, became the new Spanish-language home of the FIFA World Cup. After years of preparation, we have the perfect team in place in front of and behind the camera, as well as first-in-class resources, to deliver the highest quality, most consumed and most talked about FIFA World Cup coverage ever.
In just over three months, Telemundo Deportes will produce historic multimedia coverage - in excess of 1,500 hours across all platforms - especially for U.S. Hispanics. That includes more than 500 hours of World Cup-related programming on Telemundo Network, with the live broadcast of all 56 matches, and another eight matches on Universo on cable, in addition to over 1,000 hours of original content on the Telemundo Deportes digital platforms.
Telemundo Deportes’ award-winning team of on-air talent will be led by the incomparable, internationally renowned commentator Andres Cantor. This will be Cantor’s 10th World Cup and his eighth as a play-by-play announcer. He will be accompanied in presenting coverage by a stellar line-up, including Sammy Sadovnik, Miguel Gurwitz, Ana Jurka, Carlos Hermosillo, Karim Mendiburu, Copan Alvarez, Manuel Sol, among others. The team will also be joined by a group of diverse soccer personalities with an unmatched depth and breadth of expertise around all angles of the game, representing the most relevant countries participating in the World Cup.
Finally, connecting soccer fans with the power of storytelling, is the multiplatform promotional campaign “Lo Vivimos Juntos” – We Live It Together - rallying Latinos across the U.S. around the most anticipated sporting event in the world and positioning Telemundo as their ultimate destination.
