TELEMUNDO STATION GROUP APPOINTS LUIS ROLDAN PRESIDENT AND GENERAL MANAGER OF WTMO TELEMUNDO, ROBERTO VIZCON IS NAMED VICE PRESIDENT OF NEWS

Broadcast veterans with more than 70 years of combined experience leading news and station operations in the country’s most competitive Hispanic markets, set to lead WTMO Telemundo, the local Telemundo-owned station that serves Spanish-speaking viewers in Central Florida

MIRAMAR, FL – (May 7, 2018) – Telemundo Station Group, part of the NBCUniversal Owned Television Stations division of NBCUniversal, today announced that Luis Roldan and Roberto Vizcon, two seasoned broadcast professionals will lead WTMO Telemundo. Luis Roldan has been appointed President and General Manager of WTMO. Roberto Vizcon will lead WTMO’s newsroom as Vice President of News.

As President and General Manager, Roldan will oversee all operations of the station including news, sales, marketing and promotions, technology, digital and community affairs. He will report to Manuel Martinez, President, Telemundo Station Group. As Vice President of News, Vizcon will be responsible for the overall performance of WTMO’s news department and any other local productions across multiple media platforms. Vizcon will report to Roldan.

Roldan joins the Telemundo stations family after launching his career in broadcasting at Telemundo Network as an account executive in 1982. Since then, Roldan has held numerous sales, news and station executive management roles at television stations, networks and radio stations in New York (WNBC NBC, MundoFox), Miami (Spanish Broadcasting System, MundoFox) and Puerto Rico (WKAQ-TV Telemundo, MegaTV, MundoFox). Throughout his tenure, Roldan has successfully led local teams - in highly competitive markets - achieve profitability, increases in sales revenue and ratings, and overseen the launch of new programming for on-air, digital and radio audiences. He earned a bachelor’s degree in Marketing from Fordham University. Roldan will relocate from San Juan, Puerto Rico to Orlando, Florida.

An award-winning journalist with more than 30 years of experience in broadcast news, Vizcon has held numerous newsroom roles with increasing responsibility in television stations in Miami (WSCV Telemundo, WLTV Univision, WTVJ NBC, WJAN America C-V, WGEN Caracol), Puerto Rico (WLII Univision), Washington, D.C. (WUSA), Fort Myers (WINK) and Columbus, OH (WCMH). He returns to WTMO after working as the station’s General Manager from 2004 to 2007. While at WTMO, Vizcon helped the station successfully launch two local newscasts and increase the station’s sales revenues and viewership share. Vizcon also oversaw the launch of WTMO’s first annual “Telemundo Fiesta” health expo which has continued to provide preventive health screenings and services to families and children of Central Florida for 13 years. A recipient of the NATAS Suncoast chapter Silver Circle Award and multiple Suncoast Emmy® Awards, he earned a bachelor’s degree in Broadcasting from the University of Florida. Vizcon will relocate from Miami to Orlando, Florida.
