TELEMUNDO RANKS AS THE #1 SPANISH-LANGUAGE BROADCAST NETWORK AMONG ADULTS 18-49 WITH MUCH ANTICIPATED PREMIERE OF PRISON THRILLER “EL RECLUSO”
MIAMI – September 26, 2018 – Last night Telemundo finished as the #1 Spanish-language broadcast network fueled by the premiere of “El Recluso” (The Inmate), the #1 program on Spanish-language television among adults 18-49, according to Nielsen. Produced by Telemundo International Studios, the much anticipated prison thriller, averaged 1,545,000 total viewers, 808,000 adults 18-49 and 331,000 adults 18-34, outperforming Univision’s “La Piloto” at 10pm by +27%, +54% and +46%, respectively among the three demos. Starring Ignacio Serricchio (“Lost in Space,” “The Wedding Ringer,” “The Mule”) and Ana Claudia Talancón (“Love in the Time of Cholera,” “One Missed Call,” “Top Chef Mexico”), the 13-episode series was the #1 most social program among Hispanic networks in primetime last night.
Locally, Telemundo ranked as the #1 Spanish-language network at 10pm in New York, Miami, Houston, San Francisco, Phoenix, Orlando, Denver and Tampa, among total viewers and adults 18-49, and #1 in Los Angeles, Dallas and Sacramento among adults 18-49, on “El Recluso” premiere night.
“El Recluso” tells the story of Lázaro Mendoza (Serricchio), a former U.S. Marine who enters a maximum-security prison in Mexico, under a false identity and accused of an alleged triple murder. His mission is to infiltrate a dangerous band of inmates and guards that operate inside and outside of prison who are the prime suspects of the kidnapping of the teenage daughter of U.S. Judge, John Morris (Guy Ecker).
