Laura Lee Joins NBCUniversal Digital Enterprises as Executive Vice President, Content, Strategy and Operations

NEW YORK - June 14, 2017 – NBCUniversal today announced Laura Lee will join the company as Executive Vice President, Content, Strategy and Operations, Digital Enterprises. In this newly created role, Lee will help drive the company’s digital strategy and will be responsible for growing the consumption, audience engagement and monetization of NBCUniversal’s content on both existing and emerging platforms. She also will oversee and build on existing partnerships with Snap, BuzzFeed and Vox. Lee will be based in New York and report to Maggie Suniewick, President of NBCUniversal Digital Enterprises. She begins on June 19.

“Laura’s deep experience in the digital space will be a great asset as we continue to create new monetization and premium content opportunities across NBCUniversal and expand our partnerships with new media and technology companies,” said Suniewick.

Lee spent eight years at YouTube, where during her tenure, she expanded the North American media business with innovative partnerships across television, film, sports, and news with over 300 companies. She also launched YouTube’s VOD service in the United States and Canada. Additionally, she spearheaded YouTube’s relationships with partners including Vice, Discovery Networks, Frederator Studios, Lionsgate, Univision, Sony Pictures, NBCUniversal, CBS and Scripps, among others. Lee led the launch of YouTube’s Rentals product (VOD), the company’s first foray into the transactional business and YouTube’s launch of full-length shows and movies.

Most recently, Lee served as the President and Chief Digital Officer of Margaritaville Media where she was responsible for all content (Margaritaville.com, Margaritaville TV, Radio Margaritaville) and digital efforts for the lifestyle brand. Additionally, Lee served in various business development, production and development roles at MTV, VH1, Spike TV and Time Warner. Lee began her career as a media investment banker for J.P. Morgan.

Lee serves on the advisory board of the Made in New York Media Center by IFP as well as the advisory board of Womensphere. She previously served on the board of American Apparel (formerly NYSE: APP), providing digital counsel and serving on the nominating and governance committee for the millennial fashion brand.

She has been honored as a “Digital Entertainment Impact Exec to Watch” by Variety, a “40 under 40” with the NACD, Crain’s New York and Multichannel News. Additionally, Lee has been recognized as one of Variety’s “New York Women of Impact,” and as a “Next TV Digital Leader.” She is a graduate of Brown University and Harvard Business School.
