Christy Rupert Shibata is the Chief Financial Officer for NBCUniversal’s Cable Entertainment Group, a $5 billion portfolio of leading cable brands including USA, Syfy, E! Entertainment, Bravo, Oxygen, Esquire Network, and Sprout, as well as Universal Cable Productions (UCP) and Wilshire Studios. Christy oversees the group’s financial performance and operations and plays a key role in its strategic business initiatives. From 2008 to 2014, Christy served as EVP, Financial Planning and Analysis at NBCUniversal headquarters where she was responsible for financial reporting, budgeting and planning across the company’s global media portfolio, including cable, broadcast, film and theme parks properties. Prior to assuming this role in October 2008, Christy was EVP and Chief Financial Officer of Universal Studios, where she was responsible for overseeing the financial performance of Universal’s global film and theme park operations. Christy was previously Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of CNBC where she led the global finance organization for the cable business news company. Prior to joining NBCUniversal in 2005, Christy spent 10 years at General Electric, holding successive finance roles, including CFO of GE Healthcare Japan and Executive Audit Manager for GE’s industrial and financial services businesses in Asia.
Christy is a Phi Beta Kappa graduate of Bucknell University where she earned a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science. She and her husband, Gaku, reside in New York City where they own and operate two authentic Japanese restaurants, called Yopparai and Azasu, located on New York’s Lower East Side.
