Transgender Day of Remembrance

November 19, 2015

Caitlyn Jenner’s courageous decision to live as her authentic self brought great visibility to the transgender community this past year.  The E! series, “I Am Cait,” discussed the issue of violence towards transgender people, especially transgender women of color. While 2015 has been a year of great strides for the LGBT community, the murder rate of transgender women has almost doubled.  For this year’s Transgender Day of Remembrance, OUT @NBCUniversal and GLAAD partnered with Caitlyn Jenner and her friend, Trans Community Activist & Health Educator, Chandi Moore, to create a message of acceptance and love to combat the hate and violence that exists against friends, families, co-workers and all people who are transgender.
