NBCUniversal Launches Digital Financial Literacy Tools
December 04, 2015
NBCUniversal rolled out a suite of digital financial literacy tools in November to address our audience's concerns about their fiscal health, and empower them to make smarter money-related decisions.

Studies have shown that the majority of the American public does not feel secure in their financial knowledge. Sixty percent of consumers admit to having no budget, and 73 percent feel they could benefit from answers to everyday financial questions, according to the NFCC Financial Literacy Survey. Sixty six percent of Americans point to a money-related issue as their greatest fear.

To address these concerns, NBCUniversal and the Council for Economic Education teamed up to produce a suite of interactive financial tools. They're available in both English and Spanish, are easy-to-navigate and provide results with actionable advice and next steps.

At launch, the tools were incorporated into Telemundo's "Tu Dinero Es Tu Futuro" campaign and website, which is designed to support financial literacy among Spanish-language viewers. U.S. Hispanics hold $1.3 trillion in purchasing power, yet due to language and cultural barriers, are five times more likely to not have a bank account and almost two times more likely to be without banking facilities than non-Hispanics, according to a 2015 Latinum Network study.
