Comcast NBCU Helps Boys & Girls Clubs to Super Bowl LII Experience

Blending in with the rest of the team

February 09, 2018

Anaa Jibicho, a junior at Washington Technology Magnet School in St. Paul and a eight-year Club member and the 2017 Youth Of The Year of the Twin Cities Boys and Girls Club in St. Paul, MN was surprised with behind-the-scenes access to a series of pre-game Super Bowl SBLII activities and the big game, which aired Sunday, February 4th on NBC.

The opportunity for Anaa came as a result of the partnership between the Boys & Girls Clubs and Comcast NBCUniversal initiatives that teach club kids technology-based skills to prepare them for the digital economy. Additional programs also help them reach their potential with the power of media and technology.

Anaa attended Super Bowl SBLII with the NBC Sports Group and had exclusive access to Super Bowl week production and broadcast leading up to the big game. As part of the experience, he visited the Super Bowl Media Center and met talent on the Radio Row, NBC Sports Boston and NBC Sports Philadelphia production sets. Additional pre-game event visits included a behind the scenes tour of the NHL Studio for a Minnesota Wild game, including a visit to the weekend TODAY show set with co-host and anchor Craig Melvin. Throughout the three days, Anaa had the complete NFL experience, learned about production stages, highlight packages and had a meet and greet with various talent like Craig Melvin, Jeremy Roenick, Kathryn Tappen and Mike Milbury.

Anaa took in Super Bowl at The US Bank Stadium, which is a LEED-certified venue using 100 percent of the stadium’s energy being offset with renewable energy credits and unlike any other stadium in North America with its unique design, engineering, and technology with 60% of the roof structure made of transparent ETFE structure, allowing stadium users to view the sun and sky year long in a climate-controlled environment.

Anaa’s work within the Twin Cities communities through BGCA and his keen interest in technology helped him earn two tickets to Super Bowl LII. An avid Vikings fan, Anaa has a passion for media and technology and hopes to have a career in video production. Read more about his story here.
